Overview

APW8713A is an 8A synchronous buck converter integrating a 30mΩ N-channel high-side MOSFET and a 9mΩ low-side MOSFET. The device steps down high voltage to low voltage for powering chipsets or memory in notebook computers. The APW8713A delivers excellent transient response and accurate DC voltage output in both PFM and PWM modes. In PFM mode, the device achieves very high efficiency from light to heavy loads, with switching frequency modulated by the load. In PWM mode, the converter operates at a near-constant frequency to meet low-noise requirements. The device features precise current limiting, output undervoltage, and output overvoltage protection, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. A power-on reset function monitors the VLDO pin voltage to prevent false triggering during power-up. The device offers an externally adjustable soft-start function and an integrated output discharge method for soft-stop. The soft-start function ramps up the output voltage through a programmable timing sequence to reduce inrush current. The soft-stop function actively discharges the output capacitor. The APW8713A is available in a TQFN4x4-23 package.
