CN5502

CN5502 is a constant current output IC operating from 4V to 32V, capable of delivering up to 1 ampere of current to one or more high-brightness LEDs. The LED current is set via a current sense resistor connected in series with the LEDs. The dimming control input pin and the internal 130Hz PWM signal generation circuit support both analog and PWM dimming; analog dimming enables theatrical dimming effects. CN5502 integrates a high-voltage MOS transistor internally, reducing external component count. LED current accuracy is ±5%, making it well suited for driving high-brightness LEDs from high input voltages. The EQ pin provides current balancing when multiple CN5502 devices are used in parallel. Additional features include a 5V regulated output and thermal modulation. CN5502 is available in an enhanced thermal dissipation 8-pin SOP package and an 8-pin DFN package. In addition, CN5502 employs thermal modulation rather than thermal shutdown. If the voltage differential between the LED pin and the CS pin is large, or the LED current is high, or both conditions exist simultaneously, the CN5502 temperature will rise. When the die temperature reaches 125℃, the internal thermal modulation circuit activates and reduces the LED current to prevent further temperature increase. CN5502 uses a negative feedback loop to regulate the LED current. The voltage across the current sense resistor R_CS is fed to the internal error amplifier; the amplified signal drives the internal MOS transistor, so the LED current is set by the resistance between the CS pin and ground. The DIM pin and the internal 130Hz PWM signal generation circuit support both analog and PWM dimming; analog dimming enables theatrical dimming effects.
