The DACx760 is a fully integrated precision 12-bit and 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed to meet the requirements of industrial process control applications. These devices can be programmed to provide a current output in the range of 4 - 20mA, 0 - 20mA, or 0 - 24mA; or a voltage output in the range of 0V to 5V, 0V to 10V, ±5V, or ±10V, with an over-range of 10% (0V to 5.5V, 0V to 11V, ±5.5V, or ±11V). The current output and voltage output can be enabled simultaneously and are controlled by the same data register. These devices include a power-on reset function to ensure power-up in a known state (both IOUT and VOUT are disabled and in a high-impedance state). The CLR and CLR - SEL pins set the voltage output to zero or mid-level, and when the output is enabled, the current output is set to a low level. The zero and gain registers can be programmed to digitally calibrate the device in the end system. The output slew rate can also be programmed via the register. These devices can superimpose an external HART signal on the current output and are powered by a single supply of 10V to 36V or dual supplies up to ±18V.
