The DS1302 trickle-charge timekeeping chip integrates real-time clock/calendar functionality with 31 bytes of static RAM, communicating with a microprocessor via a simple serial interface. The RTC/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day of week, date, month, and year information, with automatic adjustment for months fewer than 31 days and leap-year correction. It supports 12-hour or 24-hour format with an AM/PM indicator. The device also features dual power supply pins (primary and backup), a programmable trickle charger VCC1, and an additional 7-byte scratchpad register.
