GL852G is Genesys Logic's high-end 4-port hub solution, fully compliant with the Universal Serial Bus Specification Revision 2.0. GL852G employs a multiple transaction translator architecture, providing a dedicated transaction translator for each downstream port to ensure full-speed data throughput bandwidth even when multiple full-speed devices are performing heavy-load operations. This controller incorporates Genesys Logic's cutting-edge technology in cost- and power-optimized serial interface design. GL852G has demonstrated superior compatibility, lower power consumption, and better cost structure among all USB 2.0 hub solutions worldwide. GL852G integrates multiple hub configuration features into an internal mask ROM, which typically requires an external EEPROM. The microprocessor detects GPIO states during the initial phase to configure hub settings such as the number of downstream ports, compound device declaration, ganged/individual mode selection, and more. If the application does not require vendor-specific PID/VID or product strings, the external EEPROM can be omitted. GL852G supports three package types. The LQFP48 package provides complete hub features such as dual-color status LEDs per downstream port, individual/ganged mode power management schemes indicating downstream port overcurrent events, downstream port count configured via GPIO settings, non-removable port declaration configured via GPIO settings, simultaneous support for both 93C46 and 24C02 EEPROMs, and power switch enable polarity control.
