LGS5145EP is a step-down DC/DC regulator with an integrated internal switch, featuring SKIP control mode. It combines low quiescent current with high switching frequency to achieve high efficiency across a wide load current range. In SKIP mode, the inductor current is switched through the internal power MOSFET in brief "burst" cycles, followed by a sleep period. During the sleep period, the power switch is turned off and the load current is supplied by the output capacitor. Under light load conditions, the burst period occupies only a small fraction of the total cycle time, minimizing average supply current and significantly improving light-load efficiency. The device features a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 60V, which helps reduce the need for external surge suppression components, making it an ideal choice for wide-input industrial power applications and multi-cell battery pack applications. It integrates a low-resistance 0.6Ω high-side power MOSFET, capable of delivering a maximum continuous output current of 1.2A with excellent load and line transient response. The LGS5145EP is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring efficient regulation of higher voltages, and is especially well-suited for 42V automotive power buses. Additional features include: soft-start, thermal shutdown, UVLO, gate driver UVLO, maximum duty cycle limit timer, and intelligent current limit shutdown timer. It also integrates output short-circuit protection with frequency foldback mode when the FB voltage is low, preventing overheating during short-circuit conditions.
