LM2596S-ADJ

The LM2596 series are step-down switching regulators with all required active functions integrated on a single chip. These devices are capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation. The series offers fixed output voltage versions of 3.3V and 5V, as well as an adjustable output voltage version. The LM2596 series operates at a switching frequency of 150kHz, allowing the use of smaller filter components compared to lower-frequency switching regulators. This significantly reduces board area and heatsink size, and in some cases eliminates the need for a heatsink altogether. Output voltage tolerance is guaranteed within ±4% under specified input voltage and output load conditions. Oscillator frequency accuracy is within ±10%. The device includes an external shutdown function with a typical standby current of 100 μA. The output switch incorporates cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.
