Overview

LM2596/LM2596HV is a 150KHz fixed-frequency PWM DC-DC switching voltage regulator. It features 3A output current drive capability with high efficiency, low ripple, high line regulation, and load regulation. The device operates in PWM modulation mode, enabling linear duty cycle adjustment over a 0~100% range. The LM2596/LM2596HV integrates a fixed-frequency oscillator and frequency compensation module, making it easy to use with minimal external components. Additional built-in features include hysteresis-enabled enable control, over-temperature protection, overcurrent protection, and secondary overcurrent protection. When secondary overcurrent protection is triggered, the built-in frequency reduction function decreases the operating frequency from 150KHz to 50KHz. The LM2596/LM2596HV is a step-down DC voltage regulator whose primary function is to convert high-voltage DC with significant noise and ripple into a regulated low-voltage DC output with low ripple and low noise. The LM2596/LM2596HV is available in five versions, differentiated by output voltage: 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, and an adjustable output version. On-chip over-temperature protection and current limiting protection are provided.
