LM2596SX-5.0-TD

The LM2596 series regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all active functions required for a step-down switching regulator, capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation. The series offers fixed output voltage versions of 3.3V, 5V, and 12V, as well as an adjustable output voltage version. These regulators require a minimum number of external components, are easy to use, and include internal frequency compensation and a fixed-frequency oscillator. The LM2596 series operates at a switching frequency of 150kHz, allowing the use of smaller filter components than those required by lower-frequency switching regulators. Standard inductors optimized for the LM2596 are available from multiple manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design of switching power supplies. Additional features include: guaranteed output voltage tolerance of ±4% under specified input voltage and output load conditions; oscillator frequency tolerance of ±15%. The device includes an external shutdown function with a typical standby current of 50μA. The output switch incorporates cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown, providing full protection under fault conditions. The LM2596 is available in TO220T-5 and TO263-5 packages.
