The LM5158x-Q1 is a non-synchronous boost converter featuring an integrated 85V, 3.26A (LM5158-Q1) or 85V, 1.63A (LM51581-Q1) power switch with wide input voltage range. The device supports boost, SEPIC, and flyback topologies. It can start up from a single-cell battery with a minimum voltage of 3.2V. If the BIAS pin voltage exceeds 3.2V, the device can operate with input supply voltages as low as 1.5V. In automotive load dump conditions, the BIAS pin can operate at voltages up to 60V (65V absolute maximum). The switching frequency can be dynamically programmed via an external resistor over a range of 100kHz to 2.2MHz. The 2.2MHz switching frequency minimizes AM band interference while enabling a compact solution size and fast transient response. The device offers optional dual random spread spectrum to reduce EMI over a wide frequency range. The device provides accurate peak current limiting across the input voltage range, avoiding over-design of the power inductor. Low-power and pulse-skip operating modes improve efficiency at light loads. The device incorporates built-in protection features including overvoltage protection, line UVLO, thermal shutdown, and optional discontinuous mode overload protection. Additional features include low shutdown IQ, programmable soft-start, precision compensation, power-good indicator, and external clock synchronization.
