The LM5575 switching regulator provides all the necessary functions to implement a high-efficiency, high-voltage buck regulator with minimal external components. This easy-to-use regulator integrates a 75V N-channel buck switch with 1.5A output current capability. The regulator control method is based on current mode control utilizing an emulated current ramp. Peak current mode control provides inherent line voltage feedforward, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and simplified loop compensation. The use of an emulated control ramp reduces the noise sensitivity of the PWM circuit, ensuring reliable operation at extremely small duty cycles required in high input voltage applications. The operating frequency is user-programmable from 50kHz to 500kHz. The oscillator synchronization pin allows multiple LM5575 regulators to self-synchronize or synchronize to an external clock. The output voltage can be as low as 1.225V. Protection features include current limiting, thermal shutdown, and remote shutdown capability. The device is offered in a TSSOP-16 package with an exposed pad designed for thermal dissipation. The LM5575 is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring efficient step-down conversion from unregulated high input voltages. The device is well suited for telecom, industrial, and automotive power bus voltage ranges.
