Overview
NE555/SA555 is a bipolar IC capable of generating high-precision timing pulses. Its internal circuitry consists of four sections: a threshold comparator, a trigger comparator, an RS flip-flop, and an output stage. With only a few external resistors and capacitors, the device can be configured for timing trigger circuits, pulse width modulation circuits, audio oscillators, and more. It is widely used in toys, traffic signals, automation control, and other applications.
