Overview
The NE556 dual independent timer is a controller capable of generating highly accurate time delays or oscillations. In time delay mode, the timing is precisely controlled by external resistors and capacitors. When used as an oscillator, both the free-running frequency and duty cycle can be accurately set via two external resistors and one capacitor. The circuit can be triggered or reset by falling-edge waveforms, and its output stage is capable of sourcing or sinking up to 200mA of current.
