Overview
The OC5820 is a monolithic step-down switching mode converter with an integrated power MOSFET. The OC5820 delivers a maximum output current of 2.5 A over a wide input voltage range of 6 - 40V, with excellent line and load regulation. The OC5820 operates in PWM current mode, enabling easy loop stabilization and fast transient response. The OC5820 provides an external FS pin, allowing the switching frequency to be set via an external resistor. The OC5820 integrates protection features including cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown. The OC5820 is available in an SOP8 package with minimal external components. The OC5820 is a current mode buck regulator in which the EA output voltage is proportional to the peak inductor current. The OC5820 features a built-in 0.6ms soft-start, which prevents output voltage overshoot during startup.
