Overview

OC6701B is a high-efficiency, high-precision boost-type high-power LED constant-current driver control IC. It integrates a high-precision error amplifier, fixed off-time control circuit, constant-current drive circuit, and more, making it especially suitable for constant-current driving of high-power, multi-string high-brightness LEDs. The fixed off-time control scheme allows the off-time to be adjusted via an external capacitor, enabling the operating frequency to be configured per user requirements. By adjusting the external current-sense resistor, the drive current of high-brightness LEDs can be controlled to achieve the desired constant brightness. Applying a PWM signal to the EN pin also enables LED dimming. An internally integrated VDD Zener regulator, soft-start, and over-temperature protection circuit reduce external component count and improve system reliability. Available in SOP8 package. The IC internally comprises an error amplifier, PWM comparator, inductor peak current limiting, fixed off-time control circuit, PWM logic, power switch driver, reference, and other functional blocks. The FB pin senses the LED output current; in steady state, the FB pin voltage VFB is regulated to approximately 250mV. The CS pin senses the inductor current to implement peak current control and overcurrent protection. The system off-time is set by capacitor COFF connected to the TOFF pin, which in turn determines the operating frequency. The COMP pin is the error amplifier output and accepts external resistors and capacitors for frequency compensation. A VDD Zener regulator, soft-start circuit, and over-temperature protection circuit are all integrated on-chip.
