The REF6000 series voltage references integrate a low-output-impedance buffer, which enables users to directly drive the REF pins of precision data converters while maintaining linearity, distortion, and noise performance. Most precision SAR and Δ -Σ ADCs switch binary-weighted capacitors to the REF pin during conversion. To support this dynamic load, the output of the voltage reference must be buffered by a low-output-impedance (high-bandwidth) buffer. The REF6000 series devices are well-suited (but not limited to) for driving the REF pins of the ADS88xx series SAR ADCs, the ADS127xx series Δ -Σ ADCs, and other digital-to-analog converters (DACs). When driving the REF pin of the ADS8881, the output voltage of the REF6000 series voltage references does not drop below 1 LSB (18-bit), even during the first conversion. This feature is extremely useful for burst-mode, event-triggered isochronous sampling, and variable-sampling-rate data acquisition systems. The REF61xx models of the REF6000 series specify a maximum temperature drift (only 8ppm/°C) and provide an initial accuracy of 0.05% for the combination of the voltage reference and the low-output-impedance buffer.
