Overview

The SN74HC4051 is a single-pole, eight-throw analog switch designed for analog or digital 8:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. The device features three digital select inputs, eight independent inputs/outputs, one common input/output, and a digital enable input. When the enable input is high, the switch turns off. The inputs incorporate clamping diodes, allowing the use of current-limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages exceeding VCC.
