Overview
TL431 is a three-terminal adjustable shunt voltage regulator with guaranteed thermal stability over its entire operating range. It features fast turn-on characteristics, low temperature coefficient, and low output impedance, making it an ideal replacement for Zener diodes in applications such as switching power supplies, chargers, and other adjustable voltage regulators. The output voltage of the TL431 can be set to any value between Vref (2.5V) and the corresponding maximum cathode voltage (36V). The device is offered in two initial voltage accuracy grades: 0.5% and 1% at 25°C. The IC is available in two packages: TO-92 and SOT-23.
