Overview
TL431 is a three-terminal adjustable voltage reference circuit that meets specified thermal stability requirements across both commercial and industrial temperature ranges. The output voltage can be set to any value between Vref (approximately 2.5V) and 36V using two external resistors. The device features a typical output impedance of 0.2Ω. It serves as an excellent replacement for Zener diodes in many applications — such as op-amp circuits, adjustable power supplies, and switching power supplies — offering identical functionality and electrical characteristics, but with a different package pinout.
