This is a step-down DC/DC regulator with an integrated switch, operating in SKIP control mode. By combining low quiescent current with high switching frequency, it achieves high efficiency across a wide load current range. In SKIP mode, the internal power MOSFET switches the inductor current in short "burst" cycles, followed by a sleep period during which the power switch turns off and the load current is supplied by the output capacitor. Under light-load conditions, the burst period occupies a small fraction of the total cycle time, minimizing average supply current and significantly improving light-load efficiency.
