TPQ5180Q is a primary-side regulation flyback converter with high efficiency over a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 75V. The isolated output voltage is sampled from the primary-side flyback voltage, eliminating the need for optocouplers, voltage references, or a transformer tertiary winding for output voltage regulation. High integration enables a simple, reliable, high-density design with only a single component crossing the isolation barrier. Boundary conduction mode switching delivers a compact magnetics solution and load and line regulation performance better than ±1.5%. The integrated 100V power MOSFET supports up to 7W output power with enhanced margin for line transients. The converter simplifies isolated DC/DC power supply implementation with selectable features to optimize performance for the target end device. The output voltage is set by a single resistor, while an optional resistor improves output voltage accuracy by compensating for the temperature coefficient of the flyback diode forward voltage drop. Additional features include internal fixed or externally programmable soft-start, optional bias supply connection for higher efficiency, precision enable input with adjustable line UVLO with hysteresis, hiccup-mode overload protection, and thermal shutdown with auto-recovery. The device is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 automotive qualified and available in a DFN4x4-8 package.
