The TPS56428 is an adaptive on-time D-CAP2™ mode synchronous buck converter. It helps system designers complete a power bus regulator set for various end equipment through a cost-effective, low component count, low standby current solution. The main control loop uses D-CAP2™ mode control, enabling fast transient response without external compensation components. Adaptive on-time control supports seamless transition between PWM mode under higher load conditions and advanced Eco-mode™ operation under light loads. Eco-mode™ allows the TPS56428 to maintain high efficiency under light load conditions. Proprietary circuitry also enables the device to use low ESR output capacitors such as polymer organic semiconductor capacitors (POSCAP) or SP-CAP, as well as ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors. The device operates with an input voltage ranging from 4.5V to 18V VIN. The output voltage is adjustable between 0.6V and 7V. The device also features a fixed soft-start time of 1ms. It is offered in an 8-pin DDA package and is designed for operation over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
