The TPS61094 is a 60nA IQ boost converter with supercapacitor management. This device can provide power supply solutions for smart meter and supercapacitor backup power supply applications. It has a wide input voltage range and an output voltage of up to 5.5V. When charging the supercapacitor in buck mode, the charging current and termination voltage can be programmed through two external resistors. When operating in boost mode, the output voltage can be programmed using one external resistor. In automatic buck or boost mode (EN = 1, MODE = 1), after applying the input power, the device will bypass the input voltage to the output while also charging the backup supercapacitor. When the input power is disconnected or lower than the output target voltage, it will enter boost mode and regulate the output voltage through the backup supercapacitor, consuming 60nA quiescent current in this mode. It supports true shutdown mode (EN = 0, MODE = 1) and forced bypass mode (EN = 0, MODE = 0). In true shutdown mode, the load is completely disconnected from the input power. When forced bypass mode is supported, the load is directly connected to the input voltage through the bypass switch and only consumes 4nA current, thus extending the battery life.
