The TPS6125x devices provide a power supply solution for battery-powered portable applications. Designed for low-power applications, the TPS6125x supports load currents up to 800mA from a single battery (with a charge voltage as low as 2.65V) and allows the use of low-cost chip inductors and capacitors. The wide input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V enables the device to support applications powered by Li-ion batteries with an extended voltage range. Various fixed-voltage output versions support output voltages between 3.15V and 5.0V. The TPS6125x operates at a fixed 3.5 MHz switching frequency and enters power-save mode at light load currents to maintain high efficiency across the entire load current range. PFM mode reduces quiescent current to 36μA (typical) during light-load operation, extending battery life. In addition, the TPS6125x can maintain its bias output at the input voltage level. In this mode, the synchronous rectifier current is limited, allowing external loads (e.g., audio amplifiers) to be powered from a current-limited supply. In this mode, quiescent current is reduced to 22μA. Shutdown mode input current is less than 1μA (typical), significantly extending battery life. With a minimal external component count, the TPS6125x offers a very compact solution size. Small inductors and input capacitors are supported to achieve a small solution footprint. During shutdown, the load is completely disconnected from the battery.
