TPS61289 is a bidirectional buck/boost synchronous converter integrating a high-side synchronous rectifier MOSFET and using an external low-side MOSFET. The TPS61289 can be configured as either a buck or boost converter via the MODE pin. The TPS61289 supports a switching current of 20A, with VHIGH voltage up to 25V. The minimum VLOW voltage is determined by the VLOW/VHIGH ratio and frequency; for example, at VHIGH = 15V, VLOW can be as low as 0.5V. This device offers an excellent balance of efficiency, thermal performance, and solution size for high-power bidirectional conversion. The TPS61289 provides adjustable switching current limit functionality. In addition, the device offers VHIGH overvoltage and undervoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown protection. The TPS61289 is available in a 2.5mm x 3.0mm VQFN HotRod Lite package with minimal external components and a very compact solution size.
