Overview

The TPS6216x family is an easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC-DC converter optimized for high power density applications. The device features a typical switching frequency of up to 2.25MHz, allowing the use of small inductors, and employs DCS-Control™ topology to provide fast transient response and high output voltage accuracy. The wide operating voltage range of 3V to 17V makes the device well-suited for systems powered by lithium-ion or other batteries and 12V intermediate power rails. The device supports an output voltage range of 0.9V to 6V with a continuous output current of up to 1A (using 100% duty cycle mode). Power sequencing can also be implemented by configuring the enable pin and the open-drain power-good pin. In power save mode, the device draws approximately 17μA of quiescent current at the input voltage (VIN). The device automatically and seamlessly enters power save mode at light loads, maintaining high efficiency across the full load range. In shutdown mode, the device is fully off with a supply current of less than 2μA. The TPS6216x devices are rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C in a free-air environment. The devices are available in adjustable and fixed output voltage versions, offered in an 8-pin 2.00mm×2.00mm (DSG) WSON package or an 8-pin 3.00mm×3.00mm (DGK) VSSOP package.
