TPS62184 is a dual-phase step-down DC-DC converter designed for low-profile power rails. It operates using two identical current-balanced phases controlled by peak current, making it suitable for height-constrained applications. The device features a wide input voltage range of 4V to 17V, ideal for systems powered by multi-cell lithium-ion batteries or 12V power rails. The two phases together deliver a continuous output current of 6A (3A per phase), enabling the use of low-profile external components. The two phases operate out of phase, significantly reducing switching noise. The TPS62184 automatically enters a power-save mode under ultra-light loads to maintain high efficiency, and also integrates Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE™) across the full duty cycle range. The device provides a power-good signal and adjustable soft-start. Its typical quiescent current is 28μA, and it supports 100% duty cycle operation with no duty cycle limitation even at the minimum output voltage. The TPS62184 is available in a compact 24-bump, 0.5mm pitch DSBGA package.
