Overview

The TPS6305x series devices are high-efficiency buck-boost converters with low quiescent current, suitable for applications where the input voltage may be higher or lower than the output voltage. In boost mode, the continuous output current can reach up to 500mA; in buck mode, the continuous output can reach up to 1A. The maximum average switch current limit is 1A (typical). The TPS6305x series devices regulate the output voltage across the entire input voltage range, automatically switching between buck and boost modes based on the input voltage, enabling seamless transitions between the two modes. The buck-boost converter is based on a fixed-frequency PWM controller using synchronous rectification to achieve maximum efficiency. At low load currents, the converter enters power-save mode to maintain high efficiency across the entire load current range. Users can select automatic PFM/PWM operating mode or forced PWM operating mode via the PFM/PWM pin. A fixed frequency of 2.5MHz is typically used in PWM mode. The output voltage can be programmed using an external resistor divider or internally fixed on-chip. The converter can be disabled to minimize battery drain. During shutdown, the load is disconnected from the battery. The device is available in a 12-pin Die-Size Ball Grid Array (DSBGA) package and a 12-pin HotRod package.
