TPS65283/-1 comes in a thermally enhanced 4mm×4mm VQFN package and is a fully featured 4.5V to 18V input voltage Vin, 3.5A/2.5A output current synchronous step-down DC-DC converter optimized for small designs through high efficiency and integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs. The device also integrates an N-channel MOSFET power switch for power distribution systems. It provides a complete power distribution solution for applications requiring precise current limiting and fast protection response. The 60mΩ discrete power distribution switch limits output current to a programmable current limit threshold using an external resistor. A current limit accuracy of ±10% is achievable at a typical current of 1.25A. The nFAULT output is asserted low under overcurrent and reverse voltage conditions. Constant-frequency peak current mode control in the DC-DC converter simplifies compensation and optimizes transient response. Cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection operating in discontinuous mode limits MOSFET power dissipation under buck output short-circuit or overload conditions. Thermal shutdown disables the device when the die temperature exceeds the overtemperature threshold.
