TRS3253E is a 3-driver, 5-receiver RS-232 interface device with a separate power supply pin for mixed-signal operation. All RS-232 inputs and outputs are protected against ±8kV (IEC 61000-4-2 air-gap discharge), ±8kV (IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge), and ±15kV (Human Body Model). Powered by a single 3.3V supply, the charge pump requires only four small 0.1μF capacitors. The TRS3253E maintains RS-232-compatible output levels while operating at data rates up to 1000kbps. The TRS3253E features a unique VL pin that enables operation in mixed logic-voltage systems. The driver input (DIN) and receiver output (ROUT) logic levels are set via the VL pin, eliminating the need for additional voltage level shifters when interfacing with low-voltage microcontrollers or UARTs. The TRS3253E is available in a space-saving QFN package (4mm×4mm RSM). The auto-powerdown enhancement feature can be disabled when FORCEON and FORCEOFF are high. When the auto-powerdown enhancement feature is enabled, the device is automatically activated upon detection of a valid signal on any receiver or driver input. INVALID is high (valid data) if any receiver input voltage is greater than 2.7V or less than -2.7V, or remains between -0.3V and 0.3V for less than 30μs. INVALID is low (invalid data) if all receiver input voltages remain between -0.3V and 0.3V for more than 30μs.
