Overview
The 3842/43/44/45 series are fixed-frequency current-mode PWM controllers designed for off-line and DC-DC converter applications using minimal external components. Internally implemented circuits include a trimmed oscillator for precise duty cycle control, a temperature-compensated reference voltage, a high-gain error amplifier, a current sensing comparator, and a high-current totem-pole output ideally suited for driving power MOSFETs. Protection features include built-in undervoltage lockout and current limiting. The 3842 and 3844 have undervoltage lockout thresholds of 16V (turn-on) and 10V (turn-off). The corresponding thresholds for the 3843/45 are 8.4V (turn-on) and 7.6V (turn-off). The 3842 and 3843 operate up to 100% duty cycle. The 3844 and 3845 operate up to 50% duty cycle. The startup current for this device family is typically 0.5mA.
