XBL2594M-12

The XBL2594 regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit that is ideally suited for easy and convenient design of step-down switching regulators (buck converters). It is capable of driving a 1.5A load with excellent line and load regulation. The device is available in an adjustable output voltage version. Internal compensation minimizes the number of external components, simplifying power supply design. Since the XBL2594 converter is a switch-mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher than popular three-terminal linear regulators, especially at higher input voltages. The XBL2594 operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, allowing the required filter components to be smaller than those needed with lower-frequency switching regulators. The device is available in a standard SOP8 SMT package. Additional features include: output voltage tolerance guaranteed at ±4% under specified input voltage and output load conditions, and oscillator frequency tolerance of 15%. An external shutdown function is included, with a typical standby current of 50 μA. Self-protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting of the output switch and thermal shutdown, providing comprehensive protection under fault conditions.
