Overview

The 74HC138 is a high-speed CMOS 3-to-8 line decoder with inverted outputs. It accepts 3-bit binary-weighted address inputs (A, B, C) to drive 8 active-low outputs; featuring one active-high enable input (G1) and two active-low enable inputs (G2A̅, G2B̅), enabling cascaded multi-level parallel output expansion. By using any one of the active-low enable inputs as a data input while the remaining enable inputs serve as strobe inputs, the 74HC138 can also function as an 8-output demultiplexer.
