AMS1117-1.8V

The AMS1117 is a series of low dropout linear regulators. Its application circuit is very simple: the fixed version requires only two capacitors, while the adjustable version operates with just two resistors and two capacitors. It consists of several functional blocks, including a startup circuit, bias circuit, bandgap reference, thermal shutdown, power transistor, and its driver circuit. At an 800mA load current, the dropout voltage is 1.3V. Compared to competitors' 5mA, the AMS1117's quiescent current is extremely low at only 2mA. In addition to fixed output versions (Vout = 1.2V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V, and 5V), the AMS1117 also offers an adjustable version that provides output voltages from 1.25V to 12V using only two external resistors. The AMS1117 features thermal shutdown to ensure the stability of the IC and power supply system. It employs trimming technology to guarantee output voltage accuracy within 2%. Other output voltage accuracies are available upon request, such as 1%. The AMS1117 is available in SOT-223, TO-252, and SOT-89 power packages. The thermal shutdown block ensures safe operation of the IC and its application system when the junction temperature exceeds 140°C. The bandgap block provides a stable reference voltage with a carefully designed temperature coefficient compensation, achieving a temperature coefficient of less than 100ppm/°C.
