The BY25Q40BL is a 4M-bit SPI Flash memory designed for high-volume consumer applications where program code is loaded from Flash into embedded or external RAM for execution. The device features a flexible erase architecture whose page-erase granularity makes it equally well-suited for data storage, eliminating the need for additional data storage devices. The erase block sizes are optimized to meet the demands of today's code and data storage applications. By optimizing erase block sizes, storage space can be utilized more efficiently. Since certain code modules and data storage segments must reside within their own erase regions, wasted and unused memory space resulting from large-sector and large-block erase operations is significantly reduced compared to Flash devices that employ large-sector and large-block erase. This improved storage space efficiency allows additional code routines and data storage segments to be added while maintaining the same overall device density. The device operates from a single low-voltage supply of 1.65V to 2.0V and supports JEDEC standard manufacturer and device IDs, one 128-bit serial number, and three 512-byte security registers.
