The CD4511B BCD-to-Seven-Segment Latch/Decoder/Driver uses complementary MOS (CMOS) enhancement-mode devices and NPN bipolar output drivers integrated into a single monolithic structure. The circuit provides a 4-bit storage latch, 8421 BCD-to-seven-segment decoder functionality, and output drive capability. The Lamp Test (LT), Blanking (BI), and Latch Enable (LE) inputs are used respectively for testing the display, blanking or pulse-modulating display brightness, and storing BCD code. It can be used directly or indirectly with seven-segment LEDs, incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, gas discharge tubes, or liquid crystal readouts.
