Overview
The production process is strictly controlled, following an extensive set of instructions to ensure repeatability. Cermet film layers and glass overcoats are deposited onto advanced (Al₂O₃) ceramic substrates and their prefabricated internal contacts. A special laser is used to fine-tune the resistive layer smoothly to the target value without damaging the ceramic. The resistive element is covered by a protective coating for electrical, mechanical, and climatic protection. Terminals receive a final pure tin over nickel plating. Final production results are verified through an extensive testing program performed on 100% of individual chip resistors. Only conforming products are placed directly into tape reels in accordance with IEC 60286-3, Type 1a and Type 2a.
