Overview
GX2431 is a 1024-bit EEPROM memory device that communicates with the host using the standard 1-Wire protocol. It consists of four 256-bit memory pages. Data is first written to an 8-byte scratchpad, and upon successful verification, copied to EEPROM memory. The four memory pages are independent of each other and can be individually configured for write protection or EPROM emulation mode. In EPROM emulation mode, all bit states can only transition from 1 to 0. Each device has a unique, unalterable 64-bit ROM address code laser-programmed at the factory, used for device addressing in multi-drop 1-Wire network environments. The GX2431 integrates a full-featured 1-Wire interface. Data is transmitted serially per the 1-Wire protocol, requiring only a single data line and a ground return. A scratchpad serves as a buffer — data is written to the scratchpad and can be read back; once verified, it is transferred to the target memory cell via the Copy Scratchpad command. Applications include accessory/PCB identification, medical sensor calibration data storage, analog sensor calibration, ink cartridge/toner cartridge identification, and after-sales management of consumer products. The device operates in parasitic power mode, "stealing" energy from the bus during high logic states and storing it in a parasitic power capacitor; the capacitor supplies power during low logic states. When transferring data from the scratchpad to EEPROM, operating current can reach 0.5mA, requiring either a strong pull-up or a pull-up resistor of appropriate value on the 1-Wire bus to ensure adequate power supply. Data memory and registers occupy a linear address space. The EEPROM array has 18 rows: the first 16 rows are divided into 4 memory pages, each independently configurable for protection mode. The last two rows contain the protection register and reserved bytes. In addition to the main EEPROM array, there is an 8-byte volatile scratchpad. Data must be written to the scratchpad before being copied to the main memory array; only full-row copy operations are supported. The protection control register determines the data loading method, and the copy protection byte is used for higher security levels. The GX2431 uses 3 address registers to access memory. The E/S register is used to verify the integrity of data written to the scratchpad. Data must be staged through the scratchpad before writing, the Copy Scratchpad command must be executed on an 8-byte boundary, and the host can use CRC16 to determine whether communication was successful. CRC8 is used for data verification of the 64-bit ROM, with the polynomial CRC8 = X^8 + X^5 + X^4 + 1. CRC16 is used for fast verification of data transferred during scratchpad read/write operations, with the polynomial CRC16 = X^16 + X^15 + X^2 + 1.
