The HD3SS3412 is a high-speed passive switch capable of switching four differential channels, including switching two complete PCI Express x1 lanes from one source to one of two destination locations in PC/server applications. With bidirectional capability, the HD3SS3412 also supports one destination device connected to two source devices, such as two platforms sharing the same peripheral. The HD3SS3412 features a single control line (SEL pin) for controlling the signal path between Port A and either Port B or Port C. The HD3SS3412 is offered in an industry-standard 42-pin WQFN package with the same footprint as devices from several other vendors. The device requires a single 3.3V supply operating over the full temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The HD3SS3412 is a general-purpose, four-channel, high-speed mux/demux switch for routing high-speed signals between two different locations on a board. Although the HD3SS3412 is designed for PCI Express Gen III applications, it also supports multiple other high-speed data protocols — such as USB 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 — with differential swings less than 1800mVpp and common-mode voltages below 2V. The device's single select input (SEL) pin is easily controlled by a GPIO pin provided by the system or a microcontroller.
