Overview

The INA219 is a shunt and power monitor with an I²C- or SMBUS-compatible interface. This device monitors the shunt voltage drop and the bus supply voltage. The number of conversions and filtering options can be set by programming. The programmable calibration value combined with the internal multiplier supports direct reading of the current value (in amperes). The power (in watts) can be calculated through an additional multiplication register. The I²C- or SMBUS-compatible interface has 16 programmable addresses. The INA219 is available in two grades: Grade A and Grade B. The Grade B models offer higher accuracy and more stringent precision specifications. The INA219 can sense the divided voltage in the bus within the range of 0V to 26V. This device is powered by a single 3V to 5.5V power supply, with a maximum supply current consumption of 1mA. The operating temperature range of the INA219 is from -40°C to 125°C.
