MIC29300S-5.0/TR

The MIC29300, MIC29301, and MIC29302 are 3.0A low-dropout linear voltage regulators that deliver low-voltage, high-current outputs with minimal external components. These devices feature ultra-low dropout voltage (400mV typical at 3.0A) and low ground current (36mA typical at 3.0A). They are well-suited for PC add-in cards requiring conversion from a standard 5V or 3.3V supply to lower core voltages. The guaranteed maximum dropout voltage of 500mV under all operating conditions allows a 2.5V output from supplies as low as 3V. The family also offers fast transient response for heavy load-switching applications, maintaining stability and achieving fast transient response with only a 47μF output capacitor. Comprehensive protection features include current limiting, thermal shutdown, reverse battery protection, reverse leakage protection, and reverse lead protection. The MIC29301 provides a TTL logic-compatible enable pin and an error flag output indicating undervoltage and overcurrent conditions. The family is available in fixed output voltage versions in TO-220 and TO-263 packages, making them ideal drop-in upgrades for older NPN-based linear voltage regulators.
