Overview

OBGZ56 is a high-performance offline primary-side feedback power switch designed for low-power AC/DC charger and adapter applications. It operates in primary-side sensing and regulation mode, eliminating the need for an optocoupler and TL431. Its proprietary constant voltage and constant current control functions are illustrated in the figure. In CC control, the current and output power setpoints can be externally adjusted via the sense resistor Rs on the CS pin. In CV control, multi-mode operation is employed to achieve high performance and efficiency. In addition, excellent load regulation is achieved through built-in cable voltage drop compensation. The device operates in pulse frequency modulation mode under CC mode and heavy load conditions, and in PWM with frequency reduction mode under light/medium load conditions. The chip features an extremely low operating current, enabling standby power consumption below 75mW. OBGZ56 offers comprehensive protection features with auto-recovery capability, including cycle-by-cycle current limiting, VDD overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, built-in leading-edge blanking, VDD undervoltage lockout, and overtemperature protection. OBGZ56 is available in an SOP8 package.
