Overview

SD8666QS is a quasi-resonant current-mode PWM+PFM controller for switching power supplies, featuring a built-in high-voltage power MOSFET and an external sense resistor. SD8666QS supports multi-mode control: under heavy load, it operates in QR mode at high input voltage to reduce switching losses, and in CCM mode at fixed frequency (65KHz) at low input voltage. Under medium and light load, it operates in QR+PFM mode to improve conversion efficiency. Under no load, it enters hiccup mode to effectively reduce standby power consumption. SD8666QS features frequency dithering to reduce EMI, peak current compensation to maintain consistent maximum output power across different AC input voltages, and soft-start to reduce device stress during power-up. SD8666QS integrates comprehensive protection functions for abnormal conditions, including VCC overvoltage protection, output overload protection, output overvoltage protection, leading-edge blanking, cycle-by-cycle peak current limiting, output diode short-circuit protection, AC input undervoltage protection, and over-temperature protection.
