Overview

The SGM2588 is an integrated 100mΩ (typical) power switch designed for self-powered and bus-powered USB applications. The SGM2588 features internal current limiting and thermal shutdown protection to prevent damage to the device and load due to overcurrent. If the die temperature exceeds +150°C, the thermal shutdown function turns off the output MOSFET and pulls the nFAULT output low; the output MOSFET will not turn back on until the die temperature drops to +130°C. The device incorporates a soft-start circuit to minimize inrush current in applications with highly capacitive loads. Under overcurrent and overtemperature conditions, the open-drain nFAULT flag is pulled low after a 13ms blanking time to prevent false triggering. The SGM2588 is available in a green SOT-23-5 package and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
