Overview

The TCA9535 series provides general-purpose parallel input/output (GPIO) expansion. Port data is transmitted via the standard I²C protocol, supporting communication rates up to 1MHz (up to 2MHz with High-Speed mode enabled). The series features 16-bit totem-pole I/O ports (P07–P00, P17–P10) capable of directly driving LEDs. Each bit of the GPIO port can be individually configured as input or output. Upon power-up, the I/Os are configured as inputs.
