The TPS1641x series is an integrated electronic fuse device with precise power limit or current limit. This device series provides powerful protection functions through integrated overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, input-to-output short-circuit detection, and overheat protection. The TPS16410, TPS16411, TPS16414, and TPS16415 devices provide a ±5% power limit for the load at 15W and also offer a configurable blanking time for transient overload or overcurrent events. The TPS16410, TPS16411, TPS16414, and TPS16415 can be used in low-power circuits (LPC) to achieve a 15W power limit compliant with IEC60335 and UL60730 standards. The TPS1641x devices can protect against adjacent pin short-circuits and pin short-circuits to GND faults. Applications such as backplane power protection in PLC and DCS modules configure the current limit through a resistor on the ILIM pin. The TPS16412, TPS16413, TPS16416, and TPS16417 devices provide a ±6% current limit for the load at 1A and also offer output slew rate control through the dVdT pin to charge large capacitive loads during power-up. The TPS1641x has input-to-output short-circuit detection and will indicate an input-to-output short-circuit on the FLT pin. The FLT pin can be provided as a digital input to the MCU or used to drive an external PFET. These devices are rated for an operating junction temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
