Overview

TPT29555A is a 16-bit GPIO expander for I²C bus applications, featuring interrupt functionality and weak pull-up resistors. Its supply voltage range of 1.65 V to 5.5 V enables direct interfacing with 1.8 V microcontrollers. The device contains two pairs of 8-bit configuration, input, output, and polarity inversion register banks. An open-drain interrupt output is asserted whenever any input state differs from its corresponding register state, signaling the system master controller that an input has changed. This interrupt output can be connected to a microcontroller's interrupt input. By asserting an interrupt on this line, the remote I/O can notify the microcontroller of incoming port data without communicating over the I²C bus, allowing the TPT29555A to remain a simple slave device. A power-on reset function initializes all registers to their default values and resets the device state machine. All I/O pins feature internal weak pull-up resistors, eliminating the need for external components. Three hardware address pins select a fixed I²C bus address, supporting up to eight devices on the same I²C bus. The TPT29555A is available in TSSOP24 and QFN24 packages, with an operating temperature range of -40℃ to +125℃.
