CA-IS2062A is an isolated Controller Area Network (CAN) transceiver with an integrated DC-DC converter, eliminating the need for an external isolated power supply to effectively reduce system footprint and simplify design. The device offers high electrical isolation rating and excellent performance to meet industrial application requirements. The internal logic input and output buffers are isolated via silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation barriers, capable of withstanding isolation voltages up to 2.5kV_RMS (1 minute) and a typical common-mode transient immunity of ±150kV/μs. The insulation barrier blocks ground loops between the logic side and bus side, helping to reduce noise caused by high ground potential differences between ports and ensuring reliable data transmission. The DC-DC converter supply VDDP on the logic side of CA-IS2062A operates from a single +5V supply, while the logic supply VDDL supports a 2.5V to 5.5V supply range. The separate VDDL and VDDP rails allow different supply voltages, facilitating signal interfacing with low-voltage control circuits. When VDDL is powered by a 5V supply, it can share the same external supply as VDDP directly. On the bus side, VISOOUT is generated by the internal DC-DC converter providing a 5V output to power the bus-side CAN transceiver supply VISO_IN; in application, VISO_OUT and VISO_IN must be shorted directly together. The CAN transceiver of CA-IS2062A supports data rates up to 5Mbps (CAN FD) and provides current-limiting protection, thermal shutdown protection, and fault voltage protection up to ±42V at the bus pins (CANH/CANL). The driver dominant timeout protection prevents bus lockup caused by controller faults or TXD input failures. In addition, the CAN receiver input features a common-mode input range (CMR) of ±30V, far exceeding the –2V to +7V range defined by the ISO11898-2 specification, enabling reliable data communication. CA-IS2062A is available in an LGA16 ultra-compact package, significantly reducing PCB board space, and supports an industrial extended temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
