Overview
CP118S is a single-channel toy DC motor driver IC designed for low-voltage systems. It integrates an H-bridge driver using PMOS and NMOS power transistors with low output resistance. The low on-resistance minimizes power dissipation during continuous high-current operation, ensuring stable long-term performance. The IC features built-in thermal protection: when the load motor stalls or an output short circuit causes a sudden surge in current, resulting in a rapid rise in power dissipation and junction temperature, if the temperature exceeds the threshold set by the internal protection circuit (typical value 150°C), the internal circuitry will shut down the power switches to cut off the load current, preventing safety hazards caused by overheating. A built-in thermal hysteresis circuit ensures that control is only permitted to resume after the chip temperature has recovered to a safe range.
