Overview
The DRV8303 is a gate driver IC suitable for three-phase motor drive applications. This device provides three half-bridge drivers, each capable of driving two N-channel MOSFETs. The device supports a maximum pull current of 1.7A and a peak current of 2.3A. The DRV8303 can operate with a single power supply within a wide power supply range of 6V to 60V. It uses a bootstrap gate driver architecture and a trickle charging circuit to support a 100% duty cycle. The DRV8303 uses an automatic handshaking mechanism when switching high-side or low-side MOSFETs to prevent current shoot-through. The integrated VDS sensing of high-side and low-side MOSFETs is used to prevent overcurrent in the external power stage. The DRV8303 has two shunt amplifiers for accurate current measurement. These two amplifiers support bidirectional current sensing and can provide an adjustable output offset voltage of up to 3V. The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) provides detailed fault reporting and flexible parameter settings, such as gain options for the current shunt amplifier and slew rate control for the gate driver.
